Tips and Tricks - Fixing a broken Necklace
It’s a sad reality but sometimes our jewelry breaks. As a jeweler I do my best to make sure your pieces are as tough as they can be but sometimes wire gets over worked or a necklace gets pulled on, and it breaks. You can always reach out to me and I will repair any piece of jewelry I have made for you, but sometimes it’s easier (and faster) to do it yourself. So I thought I would offer some tricks on repairing a broken necklace.
You will need to get a couple of things in order to do the repair. Necessities include: chain nose pliers, cutters and jump rings. I would suggest getting yourself an inexpensive set of jewelry tools (don’t use what’s in your tool box in the garage as those tools generally have teeth that will damage the delicate chain and wire used in jewelry).

Chain nose pliers and wire cutters. I would suggest getting a variety of jump rings (different sizes and gauges - which means thickness) since the chain size of the broken necklaces will differ. I would make sure to get something at least 20 gauge thick - as too thin - and it will likely break again. Anyway, let’s get to it. Here’s how to fix that broken necklace:
