My studio is small and can only accomodate two students. I teach one and two person in person classes but can teach a group class online via zoom. Just email me for more information: classes@samanthaslaterstudio.com

I can only accomodate 2 students in my small studio.

Classes are usually held at 5pm on weekdays and 10am or 2pm on weekends. But please reach out if you need a different time as I can often accomodate those requests.

Classes are held in my home studio which is located in the Greenwood neighborhood, in north Seattle. Exact location is only give after sign up.

Basic Soldering is my most popular class for beginners and those wanting to continue making their own jewelry.
Other beginnner classes include:
Basic Sawing (excellent technique based class if you are planning on continuing metalsmithing).
Perfect Stacked Bangles - ideal proejct based class - great if you just want to make something. Same with Eco friendly etching and Dapped and Riveted Jewelry.

You can learn all sorts of metalsmithing techniques and projects by taking my classes. For example silver smithing, gold smithing and stone setting. Not only will you learn the techniques but I include loads of details about tools and the history of metal working. You will also get a paper print out of instructions as well as suggestions for where to purchase items and my favorite tool lists.

Nothing. I will have everything you need. (Unless I have specified something in the class descrption).
Please wear comfortable clothes and close toed shoes. My studio can be cold in the winter and warm in the summer so dress in layers.
I will supply tea and light snacks but recommend bringing some food if the class is longer than 3 hours.

Custom classes start at $300 for 3 hours.

Students who withdraw 8 days (or more) prior to the date of the class receive a refund less the non-refundable kit fee and the transaction fee. Students who withdraw 7 days (or less) prior to the date of the class DO NOT receive a refund of any kind.

Please contact me about rescheduling due to illness or emergency. I am happy to reschedule one time at no fee. If you have reserved a Friday, Saturday or Sunday class, I may ask you to pay a $25 rescheduling fee since this is a prime-time spot and last minute changes to weekend bookings take opportunity away from other students being able to book that time. I appreciate your understanding and respect for my time.
If you want to change the type of class, I will happily do this for you, and refund any difference, minus any incurred fees.
Class purchases are valid for 3 months after purchase date, any rescheduling not accomodated within those 3 months may incur additonal fees - metal prices change regularly and because of this my class pricing and instructions need to stay current. -
Honestly, I have never had to cancel a class. If I get sick or have an emergency I will reschedule with you.
However, in the event of class cancellation by me, you will be notified by e-mail or by phone and receive a full refund of tuition and fees.

There are no discounts or refunds for missed classes. There are no exchanges or credits for jewelry. There are no refunds for rescheduled and then missed classes.

What a wonderful class! Samantha was very thorough in explaining everything I needed to know about making the stacking rings. She talked through all of the tools, chemicals and steps and then did them with me so I felt comfortable that I could do everything once I got set up at home. I was also sent home a detailed instruction document that included all the information she shared and product & vendor recommendatons for tools and supplies. Her studio is super cute, easy to get to, and parking is easy & free. Samantha is delightful, supportive & knowedgeable. The next day she sent a follow-up email with recomended sources for all the items needed and direct purchase links so I didn't have to do all the research myself (unless I wanted to... which I didn't). I'm super excited to start making some rings and then taking more classes from Samantha to expand my skills and start making my own custom metal earings for myself, family & friends!

I took my second class with Sam and she is absolutely amazing!! She takes her time and gives great guidance. I also love that she gives tip sheets that can guide you when you get home. I have learned so much and I can’t wait to take another class. I also got to shop her beautiful pieces, they complemented what I made beautifully. If you’re on the fence about booking a class, just do it you will have the best time and learn so much!!!
